We had a fun little breakfast party at Chick-Fil-A in the mall of all places, then all the babies spent a couple hours playing in the infant play area. It really was the perfect place to meet, but more importantly it seems to be one of Max's favorite spots so of course it was all about what the birthday boy wanted (if he could tell me). I will dedicate a post to that fun morning as well.
The actual birthday, and party were perfect! Everything went smoothly, and Max was in a great mood all day both days. Couldn't have asked for much more there.
The Monday following his party we had his 1 year check up, and that day didn't exactly start out on the right foot. We stayed the night at my Mom's house Sunday (we alternate sleeping at her house and my sister's on Sunday evenings, because we have started a Sunday night dinner/Walking Dead/Mad Men tradition with my sister, her husband and some friends). Max woke up and seemed to be totally fine. A little subdued, but I assumed he was just tired from the weekend. My mom made him eggs, and for the first time ever he actually ate all of them. I have been trying eggs on and off for weeks. Well I gave him a bath, finished getting ready, and when we were about to load the car he crawled over and wanted me to pick him up. Once I did he projectile vomited no less than 5 times ALL over himself, myself, and luckily the tile floor. My first thought was that he had an allergic reaction to the eggs.
Once at the doctor he seemed totally fine. He had a little rash on his chest and face but they went away pretty quickly. The doctor said he seemed well enough to get his shots, and they said everything else looked great and on track with him. He was smiling and laughing at the doctor, so I guess he either just had a mini bug, gagged a little and accidentally threw up, or might be allergic to eggs. I sure hope not though. They said to hold off on eggs while I am incorporating whole milk, but hopefully I can have an allergy free child. The thought of that overwhelms me, even thought I know so many people deal with it just fine.
He spiked a fever last night, and was just down right sick. He laid in my arms like a limp noodle, and didn't even have energy to cry. I let him sleep in my bed for a couple hours just because I felt bad for him, then he went back to his room until about 8:15 a.m. He woke up happy today, so I think it was all a reaction to those darn vaccinations.
He probably lost about a pound with his little throw up bought, so I feel like his weight was off, but his stats are as follows.
Weight: 26.1 pounds (90%)
Height: 32 inches (95%)
Head Circumference: 42 cm (100%-ha)
We laughed so hard about his head measurement. It it obviously no surprise to me that he has a big head. People also love to point it out while we are pretty much anywhere. They say it nicely, and try to make it such a cute thing-which I think it is. My favorite was the Chinese server the other day who said "aww he has such big face and head like grandpa" my dad was sitting right there, and we all cracked up. Or the woman at CVS who said "looks like you got your mama's big cheeks and head." So sweet of her.
We love our big boy, who is starting to break my back going up and down the stairs. I can only imagine being 8 months pregnant in the heat of summer lugging him around. I'm hoping he gets the hang of walking soon because he truly is so heavy. Speaking of being pregnant-we get to find out if Max will have a little brother or sister in just a few weeks, and I am SO excited. We just know it's a boy.
I guess that's all for now. Many more birthday posts to come when I can get a minute to write them!
