Family Milestone....

It doesn't get much better than today! We took Max on his first zoo trip, and he loved it! I've been wanting to take him for a while, but the weather has not been great and we wanted to go as a family, so our only option was Saturday. He seemed like a little boy looking at all the animals. He was definitely on the younger side of zoo participants, but he still had fun. At times he would rather play with the fence posts surrounding the animals instead of looking at them, but some really got his attention. He was a trooper, and didn't utter one cry or complaint the entire day.

His favorite animal by far was Jonathan the lion. I thought it was funny that the African lion was named Jonathan, but he was amazing! He didn't do much (we seemed to go during animal nap time) but he sat right up next to the glass and stared at Max. He looked GIGANTIC, and I forgot how cool those animals really are. Here Cody is telling Max all about lions.

The giraffe enclosure (I learned that you never use the term cage from the movie "We Bought a Zoo") had the coolest fence post....apparently. Who cares about the tallest animal on the planet. We did, however, find a better angle and Max thought they were pretty fun after all.

The petting zoo was next on the agenda...the agenda I planned the night before to maximize our trip just in case we didn't have long due to a nap or melt down. He loved the goats, and got so close on occasion that I almost picked him up and moved him out of the way. Those little creature can be rough. His favorite animals in the Children's Zoo were the chickens, cows, ducks, and birds. Hilarious because on any given day you can find all of those in our neighborhood, or at times our front yard...well probably not ducks. We actually have a chicken coop attached to the garage at the house we are currently living in, and a rooster! Long story short for those of you who don't know, we are living in the guest house/garage apartment of some amazing family friends while we figure out where we want to live and save for a house. They live basically in the country right outside of Sugar Land, and we occasionally get a taste of the "farm" life. Fun!

Here we are scoping out the petting zoo. I was always a little scared of these as a kid, but so far Max is showing his mom up.

We stayed for over two house until we figured Max was getting tired. We drove around and let him sleep for an hour in the car. A $30 nap as Cody complained, and then went over to Lance and Kayla's for dinner. Her in laws-who we are also close with were in town, and they haven't seen Max in a while. He showed off all his tricks, until he began to get deliriously happy and giggly and I knew he was about to crash. He crashed out at 7 pm, and we ended our fun family day! Love that little guy, and of course his dad too.

Happy Saturday!
