One this day one year ago....

All day today, at different times during the day, I have stopped and thought to myself "what exactly was I doing at this moment one year ago?"

Obviously I was in labor, but my labor was LONG. I started my induction on Sunday the 24th, and Max wasn't born until the wee hours of the morning on Tuesday the 26th. I remember the entire experience, almost hour by hour like it was yesterday! I remember I started pushing around 11:30 p.m. and he was born at 2:55 a.m. When they told me if was time to push I thought YES he will be born today (that day being Monday), but little did I know, a 30 minute pushing session was not in the cards for me. Has anyone taken a quick glance of the size of my child's head? That's all I'll say.

It was an unusually difficult labor they tell me, but I didn't know any different. I didn't realize until looking back, and hearing others stories that mine could have gone much more smoothly. It was long and I was tired, but the prize at the end of it all made it seem like a breeze. The real problem was the infection I got after delivery, but there is no need to taint the wonderful memory of my baby's birth story, and birthday with that.

It's just so strange how a year can fly by before your very eyes. EXACTLY one year ago to almost the minute I can close my eyes and instantly be back in that delivery room remembering it all. It really feels like yesterday. It feels like I should say to Cody "remember the other day when we lived in Austin, and Max was born?" Crazy. So my alarm is set for 2:50 a.m. so I can make sure and be awake to watch my sleeping baby turn 1! Weird I know, but I just want to be awake to remember the moment.

I have all the hospital photos of us anxiously anticipating Max's arrival on a web album that won't let me retrieve them. Hopefully I can figure this out by tomorrow so I can do an official birthday post!

I can't believe my little teeny tiny little baby munchkin will be 1 year old in less than 3 hours!!!!!

Okay, off to bed!
