**I am playing catch up today on the blog today. I actually wrote this post about 2 months ago, hopefully I can get up to date. The photos are pretty much totally unrelated to the post other than the fact that they are of Max around 14-15 months old. It is a miracle this blog is even posted, so oh well if it's not too great, ha!**
It's been a couple months since I have blogged, and I hate that I have left so many family memories undocumented. That really is the reason I want to blog. So as a catch up, here I go.
We jokingly call Max "toddler Max" because he has instantly warped into a little toddler, and is slowly losing his baby ways. He walks, and often run around the house, he climbs the stairs, he finally goes to the nursery at church, and is starting to say so many words. He LOVES being outside, and will play in the hose for hours. His favorite activity it to be sprayed in the face over and over with the hose. He will run and laugh until he is too exhausted to go on.
He is 15 months old today, and had his big check was yesterday. No surprise to anyone, he is a big boy. He weights 30lbs exactly, and is 33 inches long. I am starting to really have a hard time carrying his around, and have had to limit it to necessity only (or am at least trying). It make's me sad, but I had a little hospital scare with this pregnancy and they think it was all to due to heave lifting/over exertion....aka lifting my sumo wrestler child. It's tough though because he is still so "little" that he can't do a lot on his own. ie. get in and out of the crib, the car, the stroller, shopping cart, climb the stairs, maneuver playgrounds and the list goes on.
As dramatic as it sounds I constantly feel like I am choosing which son to take care. Do I risk hurting Levi with all my activity, or force Max to stay home all day bored unless someone can go out with us and help carry him around.
I feel like I have to choose which child to take care of. Do I ignore Max's needs, or put the baby at risk? Makes me sad, but all I know is Max is heavy, but not a big enough boy to be self sufficient, and definitely needs his mommy to help him with almost everything. I'm sure it will all be okay, but I do find myself getting very sad that I only have a couple more months with just him (but am SO excited to meet baby Levi and don't EVER want to seem ungrateful).
Anyway, back to Max at 15 months. Like I said before, he is starting to really communicate, and says the following often:
Sounds:
-Moo (for cow)
-Bock bock (for chicken)
-Doodle doo (for rooster)
-Woof (for puppy)
-Baa (for sheep)
-Ehhhh (for elephant, while making a trunk with his arm)
-Roar (for tiger, lion & bear-in a deep grunty voice)
Words:
-Mama (occasionally)
-Dada
-F-shhhh (fish)
-Duck
-Ball
-Bubble
-Balloon
-Bible
-Eyes
-yight (light)
-Wa-wa (water)
I am probably forgetting some, and am often the only person who knows what he is saying BUT he is definitely saying words. He only babbled for the longest time, then all of the sudden started repeating a few things. Now he seems to try and repeat something everyday. I half way tried to teach him sign language, but the only sign he does is "more" when eating. He tries to do a gesture for all done, and I am working on please and thank you because his grunting and/or yelling at me for something is just not okay these days.
His favorite type of food is Mexican, and he loves, beans, chicken, cheese, tortilla and rice. He is also a huge fan of spaghetti, pizza, and most noodles. He devours those little squeezy fruit and veggie pouches, and that is often the only way I can get him to eat enough veggies. He is obsessed with yogurt, cheerios, whole grain waffles, strawberries and bananas for breakfast right now, and is in an "eating" phase currently. Total opposite of a couple weeks ago when I couldn't get him to eat anything at all. Maybe it was teething? Who knows.
He still takes 3 bottles a day, which I know to many people is a big no-no, and I was planning on weaning him off it by 15 months. It's really my fault more than anything because I haven't been very consistent. He will drink milk out of a straw sippy cup just fine, but I feel bad taking away his bottle, AND it has always been part of his nap and bedtime routine. I just need to bite the bullet and take it away. He would probably be just fine. I know this definitely needs to happen before the baby arrives and has a bottle.
He has moved down to one nap a day, which 95% if the time is GREAT! It gives us so much more freedom to be out about about, and he seems to be getting enough sleep. Usually 2:30-3 hours during the day, and 12-13 hours at night on average. I didn't think it would happen as young as he did it, but it seems to be right for him. He falls asleep in about 2 seconds for nap time and bedtime which is AWESOME. Other than my being extra tired lately, he is in a very fun and easy stage. If I wasn't pregnant I don't think I would have one complaint about his size and activity level, and this is definitely a fun stage. His little sponge of a mind just amazes me, and he is learning so much!
He loves to be out and about, and we usually plan an outing, or run errands every morning. This is also an area where one naps is nice because we have up to a 5 hour window before I feel like he needs to be home in bed. It's so cute for him to experience his "words" in public, and recognize things. He will point out the toy animals on the shelves in Target, say the sounds, and recognizes so many objects and calls them by name. Love it! He is such a smart big boy, changing before my very eyes.
We love him so much, and can't wait to see what his next phase brings!!
